Outreach Services brings the experience of the library and its resources to people in the community. We reach out to those who are unable to visit a library as well as those who have traditionally not accessed library services. We promote the library's resources and services to newcomers, Aboriginal peoples, literacy groups and learners, and seniors.

Check it Out! Mobile Library Service
bullet This community-based program brings reading, learning and books to people in their own community spaces. A mobile library gives community members of all ages the opportunity to browse and check out books biweekly. This service also includes youth activities, a program for children and their parents / caregivers. Enjoy story time, games, songs and rhymes, activities and crafts!

Mobile Library Service for Seniors
bullet We provide monthly mobile library visits to 18 seniors' living facilities in Winnipeg. We bring large type, regular type, magazines and audiobooks in fiction and nonfiction to these residences for browsing and checking out.

Institutional Deposits
bullet Institutions such as nursing homes and residences are welcome to borrow from the library large deposits of books for up to four months at a time. These deposits are selected by library staff with pickup and delivery by the institution. The institution is financially responsible for the books and their return. For more information on deposits, contact the Outreach Library Assistant at 204-986-5530.

Book-a-Librarian
bullet Outreach librarians are available to present to newcomer/EAL classes, literacy classes, seniors and Aboriginal organizations promoting the use of the library. (Go to the For Newcomers and EAL page for more!) We will travel anywhere within Winnipeg to present on using the library, our collections and services, using our website, databases and special topics as suitable. For more information or to book (subject to availability), contact Outreach Librarians Chris (204-986-6689) or Monique (204-986-6475).
