On October 17, 2009, Joan Thomas, author of this year's On the Same Page: Manitoba Reads title Reading by Lightning, sat down for a conversation with fellow author and this year's Winnipeg Public Library Writer-in-Residence, Maurice Mierau.They talked about the incredible reception Joan's first novel has received, her writing process and themes. Afterward, Joan answered audience questions from where the title came from to whether Joan was a farm girl. Joan also read two short excerpts from the book.
