Location
Located at 111 Victoria Avenue West, Transcona Library is one block north of Regent Avenue and situated between Bond and Day streets in 'downtown' Transcona.
Parking
Currently there are 6 designated public parking stalls and a reasonable amount of limited timed parking on Victoria Avenue and Yale Avenue. There is also a free public parking lot off Regent Avenue a block away from the library.
By Bus
The closest transit stops are on Route #47 on Regent Avenue at Day Street and Regent Avenue at Bond Street. A feeder route can be reached on Day Street at Victoria Avenue.
Collections & Circulation
Transcona Library has a well developed collection for both adults and children, consisting of fiction and non-fiction items, as well as some audiovisual material. Strong collections of music on CD are available.
Transcona Library circulates close to 200,000 items per year. Current top movers are mysteries, do-it-yourself books, picture books and paperbacks. A strong rapport with the schools in the area and children's programming helps build and maintain interest in the children's collections.
Transcona Library provides free public access to the Internet and Library databases. A workstation offering Microsoft Word is also available.

Call2Recycle Battery Recycling
Winnipeg Public Library has joined the Call2Recycle battery recycling initiative. All libraries now have special recycling boxes where you can dispose of batteries and cell phones. Simply put your used batteries and cell phones in the bags provided and we'll do the rest.
Facilities
Transcona Library has a lounge/study area with easy chairs, study carrels for adults and a children's study space in the basement.
A Board Room suitable for meetings of 8 - 12 people and a basement Program Room accommodating up to 90 are available for public use. (More information about meeting rooms for rent here.) Call 204-986-3954 to make arrangements. Literacy volunteers and their students may book space for tutoring sessions at Transcona Library.
For your convenience, a book chute for the return of materials after hours is located right by the front door of the library.
History
Transcona opened its first library in 1958 to serve a population of 11,000. In 1961, a new library was built and its space was doubled to 7,600 square feet in 1975. Thanks to a major renovation in 1991, Transcona Library now boasts a full-size elevator, a wheelchair ramp and an automatic door to ensure access to collections and programs for all 78,000 customers in the community.
