The Millennium Library's collections of newspapers, reference magazines, microfilms and most microfiche items, vertical files are housed here. Micromedia Services staff also retrieve materials from the Stack Reference collection. Materials in this collection are listed in the library's catalogue.

Newspapers and Magazines
A collection of close to one hundred newspapers is available. Subscriptions carried include papers from major Canadian cities, as well as those from selected cities in the United States and Europe. Some back issues are kept and may be obtained by asking staff.
About four hundred magazines on a wide variety of subjects are available for browsing and study purposes. Current issues are available in hard copy. Some periodicals also are available on microfilm/microfiche.
Microfilm
Nine microfilm readers, two microfilm photocopiers and one microfilm viewer scanner/printer/USB downloader are available for public use. Copies are available for a fee.

The Winnipeg Free Press dating back to the 1870's when it was known as the Winnipeg Daily Times
The Globe and Mail from 1975 to the present
The Winnipeg Tribune from 1890 until it ceased publication in 1980
The Winnipeg Sun from November 1980 to the present
The New York Times from 1939 to 2008
Telephone directories for Winnipeg (1910-1990) and Manitoba (1908-1990)
Vertical Files
These files include newspaper clippings and a variety of pamphlet materials. Clippings are taken from the Winnipeg Free Press, the Winnipeg Sun, and the Globe and Mail. Much of this material is information on subject areas of local interest. Please ask staff for assistance with the use of these files.
